With the MN Political Contribution Refund program, you can get a refund from the Minnesota Department of Revenue of up to $50 for an individual contribution or up to $100 for a married couple for contributing to a Minnesota political party and/or a candidate for state office.
This is how it works. If you were to contribute either $50 as an individual or $100 as a married couple to the "Fobbe for Senate 16 Committee", the campaign committee will send you the form, the receipt, and even the envelope already addressed to the Department of revenue. We will make this very easy for you to get your refund in just a few weeks. All you do is:
1. Send Lisa Fobbe your contribution.
2. Fill out the form that we will provide to you after we receive your contribution.
3. Attach the receipt that you will get from us.
4. Mail it in to the address shown on the form.
In just a few weeks, you will get the $50 or $100 refund back from the State of Minnesota. This way there is no long term out of pocket expense for you, yet it can help out a lot with Lisa's campaign! It's easy to do and a good way to help with the costs of running an effective campaign. Of course, you are not limited to giving only $50 or $100. Candidates and/or political parties can accept contributions in whatever amount you wish, as long as it is within state campaign finance laws. To comply with Federal law however, we must use best efforts to obtain, maintain, and submit the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in an election cycle. So if you contribute more than $200 to Lisa's campaign, please give us that information as well.
